In this modern era, in which technology is one of the key aspects of daily life, should every child learn to code during their school years, or does it not affect the future of pupils. This is an area which could cause some debate, so let's add another perspective to this issue.

Technology is an all consuming part of all of our lives, we all used technology at some point in our lives. So is it necessary to know how all of the behind the scenes technology work or is it enough for us only to know how to interact with it. I believe that no matter what situation you are in, in school or outside, you should have some primary knowledge on how the world we interact with works. It's the foundation of our daily interactions, thus even if you won't necessarily apply any of these skills you should be familiar with the basics. Even if that means you only know integers, variables and strings, it'll still give you some context of the process which is happening. This'll allow you to be more aware of your surroundings and possibly even one day allow you to use them to your advantage.

On the other hand however, it doesn't necessarily affect you, and you know that you won't ever apply any of these skills, you should have the right not to learn the basics of coding, although personally, I believe that it would be beneficial for using the logical thinking patterns you need for coding to solve other problems you have. It'll give you a new perspective and a new way of thinking, which is something we would all benefit from at times.

Ultimately, even though you think that it isn't interesting, or that it won't become one of your new major passions, learning coding will allow you to find a new perspective, a new way to tackle problems or opportunities. Coding should be seen as a possibility that doesn't require you to pursue itself, yet give you the option of a new way of thinking. What do you think about coding? Do you believe it should be taught.
